I’ve been hanging on to this collage for a while and haven’t quite finished it (gotta paint the sides and finish off a bit of detailing) but it’s close enough…
I have it on pretty good authority that most ladylike mermaids keep a pigeon on their shoulder. It distracts the eye from one’s bosom, if one’s bosom is uncovered. However, this mermaid is particularly modest and keeps covered up. So her pigeon is more of fashion statement than a practical piece of adornment with a purpose. I’m not sure if the giant pink shell is a hat or just a thing she likes to carry around with her to match her outfit. Maybe it’s some kind of mermaid ninja throwing star or something.
Hope you and your weekend are weird and wonderful. Be Happy. Be You 🙂
This is possibly one of the quickest cards I have ever made. No faffing about, no rummaging around for hours for the right coloured paper, just bing-bada-boom and it was done. The fish tail fit perfectly with the little girl and everything came together really easily. No fuss and no tantrums. The biggest struggle I had was finding a word or piece of text to add to it. “Pretty” was the best I could do (ie I gave up in the end) and it seems to fit anyway. I added some Liquid Pearls around her neck so the word appears as part of a necklace. I’m still considering putting an object in her hand as she does appear to be holding something, and I might add some shine to her scales too,
but I will sort that out later.
She’s quite a demure little thing – no bare boobies for her. Maybe she is transitioning from mermaid to human? Maybe she burns easily? Maybe blouses are the new underwater fashion. Who can say? I’m just glad she didn’t give me dramas and I finished her quickly.
Hope your day is happy and coming together as it should 🙂
My niece is turning six this week. Six! Where do the years go? She was born the week I got out of hospital and I remember her being such a beacon of light and love and joy. She was the beginning of some better times (no pressure kiddo!).
I made her a little birthday card last night, squinting and fussing over it in my dark lounge room (why do I always start these things at stupid times of night?) and can now see there’s a few boo-boos on it (her arms for a start a little bit bent!) and the writing is dodgy but it’s cute enough, and it’s the thought that counts, right?
She and her siblings spend a lot of time at the beach, so I thought a mermaid was appropriate (and, honestly, I just felt like drawing a mermaid, as you do!).
Happy Birthday Miss Six – you’re a delightful little water baby and we love you very, very much. Enjoy your special day xxx
